degraded and cracked ford ecoboost wet timing belt

Wet timing belt replacement (inc ford)

Wet belts provide unmatched fuel economy but can have a shorter life

Service Description

Modern small petrol and diesel engines may have a timing belt that is lubricated with engine oil (a wet timing belt or belt in oil). As the oil absorbs excess and unburnt fuel, exhaust particulates and other chemicals, it degrades the rubber timing and oil pump belts weakening them, rounding teeth and shedding rubber particles. While oil lubricated belts are specifically designed to take this harsher environment, they degrade at a faster rate than anticipated when they were first implemented. It is now advised vehicles with wet belts strictly observe regular oil changes not exceeding 7,000 miles to flush out rubber particles which could otherwise block oil ways and cause engine failure from lack of lubrication. Given the importance of these components and their integrity, we highly recommend an inspection around 45,000 miles to evaluate the condition of all wet belts. Our engineers have observed thye serious deterioration of wet belts before 50,000 miles and would therefore advise the replacement of all wet timing belts, oil pump belts and associated components every, 50,000 miles for peace of mind and engine reliability. Every component we select for use in BIO (belt in oil) engines have been rigorously tested to match or exceed the performance and specifications of the original engine manufacturer. We constantly monitor developments by engine manufacturers and other original equipment manufacturers to ensure the components we use are of the most recent and highest standards specified. All associated components (such as the tensioner and water pump) will always be replaced regardless of condition to guarantee continued reliability and performance for the life of the belt(s). If you own a Ford Ecoboost 1.0L or another wet timing belt vehicle and need the belts replacing or simply need advice, feel free to contact us today and one of our engineers will happily answer any questions you have about keeping your vehicle reliable.
